About the event

Place value is a fundamental area of numeration and is one of the big ideas required to develop a strong number sense. In this 2-hour online webinar, we will explore the key mathematical ideas connected to numeration (including ways that this can be extended to decimal numeration) and will demonstrate how to implement these tasks into your classroom. Classroom examples will be shared and will provide ideas on how to:

  • use concrete materials such as the Linear Abacus to enhance your maths instruction

  • help students develop a deep understanding of these concepts and make connections in their learning

  • to assess students' understanding of number concepts

This webinar is suitable for levels 1- 8 and is appropriate for teachers, support staff, tutors, and school leaders. The workshop will commence at 4:00pm and end at 6:00pm.
